A Stripe For All Stripes...

Muted Mauve

January 26, 2026

Much of what we do at Garza Marfa is rooted in the ethos of mid-20th century CA design epitomized by Evelyn + Jerome Ackerman and Alexander Girard, designers who believed in craft traditions and techniques as well the tenets of "Good Design": democratic, humanistic, authentic --- embracing earth tones, architectural elements and a functional aesthetic.

“I have one rule for decorating. Do whatever pleases you.” - Evelyn Ackerman

"Art is only art if it is synonymous with living." - Alexander Girard

Below L-R; Evelyn Ackerman, wool tapestry, 1969; Alexander Girard, upholstery on wood, 1973.

In the spirit of these iconic American designers who pioneered the “California Look" we introduce our newest Garza stripe: Meet Mauve!

Below L-R Evelyn Ackerman, Labyrinth handwoven wool tapestry, 1969; Alexander Girard, Herman Miller Textile Sample, Crosses, 1957; Jerome + Evelyn Ackerman, Striped Candy Tree handwoven wool tapestry, 1968.

Mauve, the color of connection, peace and spirituality feels like what we need right now. More human connection & creativity -- more Mauve!
