These bowls are formed using a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques. The high fire clay bodies and Shino glazes incorporate native clays and minerals from Madrid and Socorro New Mexico. The pots are wood fired in the Tres Piedras Anagama kiln. Twice each year, fifteen artists take turns stoking the kilns 24 hours a day for a week to reach and hold temperatures about 2300 degrees.
